
Jonathan Meets Sierra Leone’s President Bio on Regional Peace, Democratic Stability
Freetown – Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, paid a diplomatic visit to Julius Maada Bio at the State House in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where discussions centred on regional peace, democratic governance, and cooperation within West Africa.
Jonathan disclosed the visit in a statement shared via his Facebook page, noting that he visited Sierra Leone in his capacity as Special Envoy of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, representing both the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The former Nigerian leader also stated that he attended the engagement as Chairman of the West African Elders Forum (WAEF).
According to Jonathan, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, particularly issues relating to peace, stability, democratic governance, and strengthened regional cooperation across the West African sub-region.
He commended President Bio for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him during the visit, describing the engagements as fruitful and cordial.
“I deeply appreciate President Bio for the warm reception, gracious hospitality, and conviviality extended to me during our fruitful engagements,” Jonathan stated.
The meeting comes at a time when West African leaders continue diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting unity, democratic consolidation, and regional stability amid evolving political and security challenges across the sub-region.
