Delivering his campaign manifesto to lead the Federated Union of Rivers State Indigenes in Bayelsa State, FURIBS, many were held spell-bound by his brilliant ideas marshalled out in eloquent tones filled with charisma.
The day was Saturday 28th September 2024 in the auditorium of the Community Primary School, Biogbolo.
To many Rivers State indigenes in Bayelsa, they have found someone who is both a leader that was born and made. Mounting the rostrum, his voice filled the hall and his presence felt in every corner.
From his electioneering campaign to the swearing-in, this idea-driven personality, Barisuka Prince Beteh wants to make a difference in the history book of FURIBS. His desire is to carve a niche for himself from other occupants of the office of the President General, FURIBS.
Since the formation of FURIBS in 2006, there has not been an election without crisis but with Chief Barisuka, Prince Beteh there was a difference. Peace is golden, conflict resolution is a necessary skill while tolerance is a panacea for progress in any given organization.
Who is Barisuka Prince Beteh?
To define a man could be limiting but one’s influence and impact gives a clear answer to the question on who a person is.
Chief Barisuka, Prince Beteh was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Beteh Barisuka Nzubee of Luusue-Sogho in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He had his primary education at Community Primary School 1, Bori, the traditional home of the Ogoni people, where he obtained his FLSC in 2001.
In 2006, he obtained his Senior School Certificate of Education (SSCE) from Oloibiri Grammar School, Oloibiri, an oil rich community in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state.
A 2015 Public Administration graduate from the prestigious University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, Rivers State.
A public servant who between 2019 and 2023 pursued a Masters Degree in Conflict, Peace and Strategic Studies with specialty in Peace Building and Development Studies from the Niger Delta University, NDU. Not relenting in his educational pursuit, in 2023, he enrolled as a PhD student in Development Studies with specialty in Peace Building and Development Studies in the same institution.
His name Prince, gives him a unique identity which symbolizes nobility, royalty and authority thus placing on him the burden of leadership wherever he finds himself.
This Khana-born leader has served the youths of Ogoni community in Bayelsa state where he displayed exceptional leadership qualities and as a result, he was elevated to the position of Chairman.
Serving in that capacity as youngest Chairman of Ogoni in just three months and two weeks, he resolved a long lasting leadership crisis without raising a finger. He raised structures that have made the Ogoni community force in FURIBS.
Today to his credit is the setting up of Ogoni Ministers Forum, Ogoni Keke Riders Database and other laudable achievements.
He is the Public Relation Officers (PRO) of South South community, Bayelsa State, a position he occupied before his recent election as the President of FURIBS.
This charismatic leader has a strong communication and interpersonal skills which he deployed to uplift FURIBS since he became a member. Without being a member of exco, Prince carried out the media and publicity duties selflessly and effortlessly without seeking for recognition or applause.
Leadership is bringing and moving people from one level to another, Prince’s leadership influence within his period in FURIBS cannot be overemphasized as he herald the ‘New Era’ campaign movement. He displayed his core competent skills of strategic planning and tactical execution to get every member of his team elected without rancour.
The newest President General of FURIBS belongs to the Association of Health Safety and Environmental Awareness as well as International Committee of the Red Cross as an International Student member.
Barisuka Prince Beteh who is married and blessed with wonderful children was sworn in as the President General of FURIBS on Tuesday 22nd ctober 2024 to lead the 8th executive council of FURIBS for the next four years.
From his inaugural address to the immediate appointment of Chairmen/Directors and members of sub committees, it is clear that Prince was born ready to lead at this time in the history of FURIBS.
