Ministers, Industry Leaders Visit NCDMB Stand at NIES 2026
Abuja—The Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, on Tuesday led a high-level delegation of key stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector to the exhibition stand of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) at the ongoing Nigerian International Energy Summit (NIES) 2026 in Abuja.
The delegation was received by the General Manager, Corporate Communications, NCDMB, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, who briefed the ministers on the Board’s recent achievements and ongoing initiatives aimed at deepening local participation across the petroleum value chain.
Dr. Ezeobi disclosed that Nigerian Content has grown significantly to 61 per cent, attributing the milestone to sustained policy implementation, industry collaboration, and targeted capacity-building programmes championed by the NCDMB. He outlined the Board’s strategic role in enabling new oil and gas projects, particularly in ensuring compliance with Nigerian Content requirements and facilitating project readiness.
He further highlighted the impact of the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund, noting that the financing scheme has continued to support indigenous companies, enhance in-country capabilities, and stimulate job creation within the sector.
According to him, the NCDMB is also advancing human capital development through the Oil and Gas Field Readiness Training Programme, which is designed to train 10,000 young Nigerians. The programme, he said, is positioned to prepare the workforce for emerging opportunities linked to upcoming mega oil and gas projects.
The visit underscored the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigerian Content as a critical driver of industrial growth, skills development, and sustainable investment in the nation’s energy sector, as discussions continue at NIES 2026 on the future of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
