Residents Charged to Be Wary of HIV, Bayelsa AIDS Agency Warns
The Bayelsa State Agency for the Control of AIDS, BYSACA has charged residents of the state to be wary of HIV as the disease is still prevalent in all local government areas of the state.
BYSACA urges all residents of Bayelsa state to be cautious in their sexual activities during the yuletide as sexual transmission is still the highest form of contracting HIV.
Remember that the use of condoms is highly recommended as a means of preventing HIV also, the use of Pre-exposure prophylaxis, PrEP and Post exposure prophylaxis is advised for those at high risk of contracting HIV.
However, also remember that being HIV positive is not a death sentence! With the consistent use of Antiretroviral, the virus can be suppressed, made undetectable and untransmittable.
Stop the discrimination of people living with HIV. If you’re not infected you are affected, together we can work towards the prevention of new HIV infections in our state.
