
Rivers Community in Bayelsa Set to Celebrate Cultural Day Today
The Federated Union of Rivers State Indigenes in Bayelsa State, FURIBS also known as the Rivers State Community in Bayelsa State, is set to host the 2025 edition of Rivers Cultural Day, an annual celebration dedicated to showcasing the beauty, diversity and strength of Rivers State culture.
Scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Kpansia School Field in Yenagoa, the cultural festival will bring together government leaders, traditional groups, residents and friends of Rivers State for a full day of vibrant cultural expression and community bonding.
This year’s celebration, themed “Celebrating the Uniqueness of Rivers State Culture,” will feature a variety of activities including football matches, traditional dances, arts and craft exhibitions, and other programmes designed to highlight the heritage and identity of the Rivers people.
A number of high-profile dignitaries are featured in the event lineup, including the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. Also expected are the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara (GSSRS) and the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu (DSSRS),
President of the Rivers State Community in Bayelsa, Chief Barisuka, noted that the cultural day serves as a unifying platform for Rivers indigenes living in Bayelsa, while also strengthening inter-state cultural understanding.
In addition to celebrating heritage, the event will provide an opportunity for artisans, cultural groups and emerging talents to showcase their skills and creativity to a broad audience.
Organisers say the 2025 edition will be one of the most colourful yet, as preparations have been concluded to ensure a memorable experience for participants and guests.
