Tinubu Inaugurates Bayelsa Landmark Projects, Lauds Diri’s Purposeful Leadership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned a series of landmark projects in Bayelsa State, describing Governor Douye Diri as a symbol of purposeful leadership.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the President commended the governor for executing transformative projects that he said would enhance connectivity, create jobs, and inspire hope among citizens.
“Gov. Diri, you’ve done a great job. I’ve commissioned very transformative projects — the bridge linking communities and dual carriageways creating opportunities, jobs, and hope for our nation. Thank you for that commitment. You have demonstrated very purposeful leadership,” Tinubu stated.
He further praised the governor’s leadership style, adding, “Thank you for being a very good progressive governor. I feel at home in Bayelsa.”
In his remarks, Governor Diri acknowledged the positive impact of the President’s reform policies, particularly in the power sector, noting that they have enabled the state government to achieve significant milestones in energy development.
“Your Excellency, your administration’s decisive policy interventions have paved the way for meaningful reforms, especially in the power sector, enabling us to deliver on our pledge of reliable independent energy through the construction of a 60-megawatt gas-powered turbine. For us, it is a cause for thanksgiving and rejoicing,” Diri said.
The projects inaugurated by the President include the 630-metre Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, a dual carriageway linking the New Yenagoa City to the airport road, the Sagbama-Ekeremor road, and a 60MW gas turbine facility.
Dignitaries present at the event included Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Didi Walson-Jack, Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri, as well as Governors Hope Uzodinma, Sheriff Oborevwori, Siminalayi Fubara, and Dapo Abiodun, alongside federal lawmakers and members of the Bayelsa State Executive Council.
