Youths, Women Storm New Yenagoa City Road 1 for Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Project Inauguration
Youths, women, men, and the elderly from the Gbarain/Ekpetiama clan in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State gathered in large numbers to welcome President Bola Tinubu, singing and dancing in celebration of the newly constructed dualised New Yenagoa City Road 1.
The jubilant crowd expressed deep appreciation to Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, for delivering the road project linking the Airport/Tombia/Amassoma Road, describing it as a major boost to development in the area.
The atmosphere was festive as residents eagerly awaited the arrival of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to officially inaugurate the completed legacy project.
Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Buloudiseye Ndiwari, lauded the governor’s performance, noting that the administration has exceeded public expectations through impactful infrastructure delivery.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Gbarain Ekpetiama Rural Development Authority, Tolumona Engedefa, appreciated the President for honouring the event and appealed to the Federal Government to grant official recognition to the 32 rural development authorities established by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly as full-fledged local government areas.
In his remarks, Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Sagbama LGA, Chief Okubokakpo Ombu, commended the President for the consistent release of statutory allocations, adding that Governor Diri has judiciously utilised the funds to execute projects that have significantly improved the lives of the people.
Some residents, including Mrs. Ebitukemi Douglas and Mrs. Favourite Fabiri, highlighted the economic and social benefits of the road, stating that it would open up rural communities, attract investment, and enhance commercial activities in the region.
The dualised Road 1 extension in the New Yenagoa City GRA, linking Onopa to the NLNG junction along Airport Road (Amassoma Road), spans approximately three kilometres and stands as a key infrastructure milestone in the state.
