Wakirike Cultural Dance Competition Season 2 Holds November 29
By Mercy Tula, SOUTH SOUTH DESK – The second edition of the Wakirike Cultural Dance Competition has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 29, 2026, a day later than its initial date of Saturday, November 28.
Convener of the competition, Florence Samuel, announced the adjustment in a public notice, explaining that the decision was taken to accommodate sponsors and partners who have prior engagements on Saturdays.
The event will take place at the Founders Entrance, Okrika, where participating dance groups and cultural enthusiasts are expected to gather to celebrate Wakirike cultural heritage through dance and traditional performances.
According to the organisers, the change is intended to ensure greater attendance and participation by sponsors, partners and supporters of the competition.
Samuel apologised for any inconvenience the adjustment might cause, while expressing appreciation to the public, participating dance groups, sponsors and partners for their understanding and continued support.
She also invited members of the public to join the celebration on November 29 as the competition seeks to promote and preserve the rich cultural traditions of the Wakirike people.
