Dominic Michael reports on the campaign of Hon Eddie Orubo as he promises to initiate bills that will harness resources in Ogbia
Ahead of the 2023 general elections, an aspirant to Ogbia Federal constituency, Bayelsa state Hon. Eddie Orubo has stated that the initiation of bills that would translate into human and capital development of the constituency would be his priority if elected to represent his people at the House of Representatives come 2023.
Hon. Orubo who stated this during the burial ceremony of his late mother, Madam Bernice Orubo at her community, Otuabagi in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state further noted that his community presently lacks basic human and capital Infrastructure, adding that this is basically because there are lapses as regards the constant harnessing of the human and natural resources that abound in the constituency.
According to him, the abundant natural endowments in the constituency have remain untapped for several years, promising to turn around the situation when he gets to the lower chambers.
The aspirant who is contesting under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) noted that the adequate tapping of these resources is paramount for the constituency to grow economically which can only be possible if there is a law in place to back up the agitation for all round development in the constituency.
While eulogising the sterling qualities of his late mother, he also noted that her demise is a big loss to not only the family but the entire community, stressing that the vacuum created by her death will be difficult to fill.
He however pointed out that his consolation is in the fact that she left a legacy of unity, love and compassion in Otuabagi community. Hon. Orubo who was the former Bayelsa state representative at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) thanked all those who took out time to attend the burial ceremony, particularly members of APC in both Rivers and Bayelsa states.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony include Senator Magnus Abe, a former Senator from Rivers state and Maxwell Oko, a chieftain of APC among others.
