2027: Dickson Rallies NDC Behind Obi, Vows to ‘Paint Nigeria Blue’ in Nationwide Campaign Offensive
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA – National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has declared the party ready for a nationwide campaign offensive ahead of the 2027 general elections, rallying its leadership behind presidential candidate Peter Obi and vowing to expand the party’s political reach across Nigeria.
Dickson said the party would launch a coordinated nationwide mobilisation following the unveiling and inauguration of its National Campaign Council scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026.
The former Bayelsa State governor expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness after a series of strategic meetings with Obi, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement following his return from an overseas working trip, Dickson described the discussions as fruitful, expressing satisfaction with what he said was a shared commitment among party leaders and candidates to the 2027 electoral project.
He said the NDC was determined to build a unified campaign structure that would mobilise support for Obi and other party candidates contesting elections at the federal and state levels.
According to Dickson, the NDC National Campaign Council would coordinate campaigns for the presidency, National Assembly, governorships and state houses of assembly, ensuring that all candidates and party leaders actively participate in the process.
He stressed that the campaign would not be limited to the presidential election but would involve the entire party, with candidates and leaders at every level taking ownership of the political mobilisation.
“The discussions were very fruitful, and I am happy that all our party leaders and candidates are on the same page,” Dickson said.
The NDC leader’s emphasis on unity comes as the party intensifies preparations to establish a common campaign platform ahead of the 2027 elections, with the proposed council expected to provide a coordinated structure for its candidates nationwide.
Dickson said further discussions and consultations would continue ahead of Monday’s event, expressing confidence that the party would take its message to communities across the country.
Signalling the scale of the political mobilisation planned by the NDC, he declared: “From next week, we will paint the whole country blue.”
The declaration underscores the party’s ambition to build a stronger national presence and rally supporters behind its candidates as the contest for political power in 2027 approaches.
Dickson also thanked Nigerians for their confidence and support, assuring them that the party’s leadership remained united and committed to communicating its message across the country.
The planned inauguration of the National Campaign Council on Monday, October 26, is expected to mark a major step in the NDC’s preparations for the general elections, bringing its presidential, legislative and governorship campaigns under a common organisational structure.
“NDC all the way!” Dickson declared.
