2027: Tinubu Will Win All Five Southeast States, Umahi Predicts
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA – Minister of Works, David Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a significant number of votes in the South-East during the 2027 presidential election, predicting that the All Progressives Congress will win all five states in the region.
Umahi made the prediction during an interview with journalist Seun Okinbaloye while discussing the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure projects and its prospects ahead of the 2027 election.
Asked whether four legacy projects being executed by the Federal Government would be completed before the end of Tinubu’s four-year tenure, the minister said the projects would be completed within the next three years.
Okinbaloye, however, reminded him that he was not guaranteed to remain in the administration for another three years.
Responding, Umahi said his confidence was based on his faith.
“I am a prophet; God has told me that,” the minister said.
Speaking on the 2027 presidential election, Umahi said he believed Tinubu would make significant gains in the South-East and predicted that the APC would win all five states in the region.
“2027: The President is going to harvest a lot of votes in the South-East. My faith is telling me we will win the five states,” he said.
The minister, however, said the APC would not take the region’s support for granted, adding that he was not underestimating the chances of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi.
Umahi said the Tinubu administration’s record in office, particularly in infrastructure development, would help the APC persuade voters in the South-East ahead of the election.
His prediction comes as political parties begin to position themselves for the 2027 presidential contest, with the South-East expected to remain a major battleground amid growing efforts by political parties to consolidate support across the country.
