AMP Bayelsa State Chapter Gets New Exco, Plans For State Film Festival Soon

The Association of Movie Producers, AMP Bayelsa State Chapter has elected and inaugurated a new executive committee to pilot the affairs of the association.

The new executive has Max Opoi Jerry as Chairman while Martins P. Zidebegha will serve as Secretary. Others are Barakumo Solomon Odede is Publicity Secretary, Amabebe Ajoko is Provost and Miss Deborah as treasurer.

Speaking during the inauguration, the National President of the association, Ms Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, who witnessed the elections charged the new executive to swing into action by coming up with programs that will revive the film industry in Bayelsa State.

She called on the newly elected chairman to develop a policy document on the Bayelsa State Film festival and approach the government for speedy implementation noting that that the state is blessed with beautiful locations that will attract tourist.

Anyiam-Osigwe used the opportunity to express gratitude to the Bayelsa State government for the birth of African Movie Academy Awards, (AMAA) and hosting it for 10 years.

The National President said that African Movie Academy Awards is no where without Bayelsa state noting, it is a vision of late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha to attract more persons to the state as well as making the state the hub of the Nigerian movie industry and that vision still stands.

She thanked former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan (GCFR) for carrying on with the legacies of AMAA stating that the dream was for the event to remain in Bayelsa State.

Anyiam-Osigwe described Bayelsa as her baby and promised a closer working relationship and collaborations.

The President who was accompanied by the Rivers state Chapter Chairman thanked the immediate past Chairman, Chief Orduve Joel Nkemjika and officially announced him as one of the patrons of the association in the state.
