
ANA Bayelsa to Inaugurate Federal University Otuoke Subchapter Thursday May 21
By Victor Oroyi, Yenagoa – The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Bayelsa State Chapter, is set to inaugurate its Federal University Otuoke (FUO) subchapter in what has been described as a landmark development for literary and creative writing activities in the state.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Prof. Seth Accra Jaja Postgraduate Auditorium, Federal University Otuoke, beginning at 12 noon prompt.
According to a notice issued by the Secretary of ANA Bayelsa, Opusam Ekinisam Ete, the event marks the establishment of the first subchapter in the history of ANA Bayelsa, a move expected to deepen literary engagement and creative development among writers, students, and intellectuals in the state.
The programme will be hosted by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the university and Fellow of ANA, Prof. Chris Onyema, while the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Otuoke, Prof. Promise Mebine, will serve as Chief Host.
Chairman of ANA Bayelsa, Barr. Ebi Robert, is expected to attend the occasion as Special Guest, alongside other distinguished members of the literary community and stakeholders in the creative industry.
The inauguration is being coordinated under the leadership of Amb. Dr. Onyeka Ike, Deputy Director of Media and Communications, Federal University Otuoke, who also serves as the Coordinator of the subchapter.
Speaking on the significance of the event, organisers noted that the subchapter would provide a platform for nurturing literary talents, promoting intellectual discourse, and strengthening the culture of reading and creative writing among students and aspiring authors.
Members of ANA Bayelsa and the wider creative writing community have been invited to attend the ceremony, which organisers say promises to be “engaging and mind-blowing.”
The Association of Nigerian Authors remains one of Nigeria’s foremost literary bodies, committed to promoting literature, creativity, and cultural expression across the country.
