Seen in the Dark – a poem by Victor Oroyi
A Victor Oroyi poem titled Seen in the Dark is tender reflection on loneliness, unseen pain, and quiet love that finds wounded souls hidden beneath life’s darkest moments.
You noticed me
when I thought
nobody did—
like tiny ants
moving quietly
through a dark night,
unseen by the world
but not hidden from your eyes.
You loved me
when I thought
I was too difficult to love,
like a poisoned creature
people fear to touch,
a lonely thing
crawling beneath broken leaves
after the rain.
You stayed close
when others
walked past me
like an abandoned house
with cracked windows
and no light at the door.
You called my name
softly,
like morning sun
touching cold earth,
like water finding
a dry root
buried deep beneath the dust.
And slowly,
I began to believe
that even wounded things
can still be held,
that even creatures
of the dark
search for warmth,
and sometimes
find it.
Now I know—
love is not always loud.
Sometimes
it is simply someone
seeing you clearly
when the whole world
looks away.
