APC Performance, Unity Position Party For 2027 Victory, Says Bayelsa Chairman
YENAGOA — The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba, has expressed confidence that the achievements recorded by APC-led administrations at both the state and national levels would pave the way for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
Ogoriba stated this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists at his residence in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
He also maintained that the party in the state remains largely crisis-free, attributing the prevailing unity to deliberate efforts at inclusiveness and collective decision-making. He dismissed suggestions that reconciliation efforts had failed following the exit of some party chieftains.
According to him, the fact that only one aggrieved aspirant defected after the party primaries demonstrates the level of cohesion within the party.
“That is a testament that we are doing very well and putting everybody together,” he said.
Highlighting achievements of the APC-led administration in the state, Ogoriba cited the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and ongoing road infrastructure projects as evidence of good governance. He particularly noted the improved accessibility to Southern Ijaw and Ekeremor Local Government Areas, describing the development as historic.
He said the completion of the road to Agge and the eventual commencement of operations at the deep seaport would further stimulate economic activities and enhance revenue generation in the state.
“For over 60 years, nobody could access Oporoma, the headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, by road. Today, we drive to Oporoma. The road network has improved tremendously.
“Before now, if you wanted to go to Ekeremor, you had to drive through Delta State and then take a boat. Today, you can drive directly,” he said.
Speaking on the performance of the APC administration at the national level, Ogoriba commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his government was making significant progress despite criticisms from some quarters.
“The same thing applies at the national level. We are doing very well. Even Jesus Christ had critics. So, when people criticise the President, we expect that. We welcome constructive criticism. Where he has done well, people should say so. Where he has not done well, people should point it out,” he stated.
On the issue of a party secretariat, the APC chairman disclosed that the party had relocated to a larger office located at No. 45 Isaac Boro Expressway, opposite Christ Embassy Church, Amarata, Yenagoa, to accommodate the growing membership occasioned by the influx of former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He stressed that the party was more concerned about winning elections than engaging in debates over “old APC” and “new APC” members.
Ogoriba further assured Bayelsans of peaceful elections and urged eligible voters to take advantage of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registration window to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process.
“Bayelsans will have peaceful elections and the best candidates because we have put forward our best candidates. I encourage everyone to use the INEC window to register, get their PVCs and vote for the best candidates. I can assure you that the best candidates are in the APC,” he said.
