Bayelsa Assembly Commends State Government for Landmark Road and Infrastructure Projects

Members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Works have commended the state government, through the Ministry of Works, for its landmark road and infrastructure projects across the state.

Speaking on Day Three of the six‑day oversight inspection tour of project sites, which include the 25,000‑seater capacity stadium at Igbogene, the Polako‑Sabageria Bridge, and the 7.5‑kilometre Gloryland Drive Phase Three.

Briefing newsmen on the progress made, Retired Colonel Bernard Kenebai, Chairman of the Committee disclosed that about 2.5 kilometres of the Gloryland Drive Phase Three have been asphalted, with a stone base completed for about four kilometres, while sand filling is left for the remaining two kilometres.

On the Polako‑Sabageria Bridge, Colonel Kenebai said the project is 80% completed, with a timeline for completion set for December.

He applauded Governor Douye Diri for championing the Prosperity Agenda, particularly in the area of infrastructure, and the Ministry of Works for ensuring the successful execution of projects.
The Committee Chairman also noted that the completion of the 25,000‑seater stadium would boost youth participation in sports.

Also speaking, Hon. Gabriel Ogbara, Member representing Ogbia Constituency Three and Chief Whip of the House, applauded Governor Diri and the Ministry of Works for their diligence in implementing ongoing projects.
On their part, Hon. Waikumo Amakoromo, Member representing Yenagoa Constituency Two, and Hon. Gesiye Isowo, Secretary of the PDP in Bayelsa State, highlighted the positive impact of the Polako‑Sabageria Road and Bridge on residents of the area.

In his remarks, ESV Moses Teibowei, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, assured that his ministry would continue to ensure all projects are executed to the highest standards and completed on schedule for the benefit of the people of Bayelsa State.
