Bayelsa Gets New INEC REC, Barrister Oboh Effanga

The new Resident Electoral Officer, REC, Barrister Oboh Effanga posted to Bayelsa State has assured Bayelsans that INEC would not interfere with the electoral process of the forth coming elections.

Barrister Effanga gave the assurance during a press briefing held at the INEC office in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

He noted that he has consulted with security personnel, political parties and other stakeholders to ensure a peaceful election in the state.

He equally assured Bayelsans that their votes would count as electoral officers would be properly trained for the elections.

” The portal for the Commission has been opened so Adhoc staff can apply, mostly NYSC members, those who just passed out of youth service can also apply, students of federal tertiary institutions too”

The new REC pointed out that the collection of Permanent Voters Card, PVC’S would begin on the 11th of September till the 9th of October hence people can collect them at the INEC local government area offices in the state.

He added that for wards having more than 500 PVC’S, residents can collect their cards at the registration areas in all the eight local government areas.

He used the occasion to urge the media to regularly visit the Commission for enquiries to enable them have the right information to pass across to the general public through their various media platforms and organizations.
