INSIGHT | Bible Verse for Today 2 December 2023 – Mark 14:35 | ‘…And prayed’

At Passover, Jesus break bread and drink from the cup with His disciple and they wrap it up with a hymn.  After the Passover in the upper room, Jesus took them to a place called Gethsemane.  Where he went to pray with them.

Few moments later, from verse 32, the weight of His assignment weighted heavily on Him; Jesus became overwhelmed with the death on the cross, and human emotions sets in as we discover from yesterday’s bible verse.

Apart from committing Himself to do the will of God, an integral part of what Jesus did was to pray.  Praying is a continuous kingdom practice that helps a believer overcome his or her challenges and become a better version of one’s self.  Challenges never kills but it calls for readjustment of the mind based on the word of God.

Jesus speaking in parable in Luke 18:1 says ‘…that men always ought to pray and not lose heart‘ the concluding statement. After an heartfelt prayer in the midst of challenges, we receive strength and help upon our lives to forge ahead to fulfill our assignment.

Quick reflection;

  • When last did you spend time to pray about your assignment, dreams and goals?
  • Or you are busy complaining and playing the blame game with the situation?

Dearly beloved, it is time to pray. To fulfill your God-given assignment, live a peaceably and godly life, and have a relationship with God, then you cannot excuse yourself from the altar of continuous and consistent prayers. Give yourself to prayer and you will find the strength to push on.
