Bishop Atuboyedia Urges Christians to Prioritize God’s Verdict Over Human Opinions
The Bishop of Okrika Diocese, Rt. Rev’d. Dr. Enoch Atuboyedia, JP, has called on Christians to remain steadfast in integrity and focus on God’s assessment of their lives rather than the judgments of people.
Speaking during the Episcopal Visit and Service at New Covenant Church, Okochiri Missionary Parish, Bishop Atuboyedia reminded the congregation that people will always have opinions—sometimes true, often false—and that these should not dictate one’s actions or weaken faith.
“Many speak out of hatred, malice, or prejudice, misjudging others despite their good deeds,” the Bishop said. He highlighted instances where individuals, especially women, labor diligently to support their families yet are unfairly criticized because people have already formed biased opinions.
Drawing lessons from the biblical story of Job, Bishop Atuboyedia encouraged believers to remain faithful and upright, even when facing accusations or hostility. He stressed that integrity is essential and warned that no one should allow prejudice or false allegations to lead them into wrongdoing. “What truly matters is God’s judgment, not human criticism,” he said.
The Episcopal visit featured several key church activities, including Confirmation, Admission into the Women’s Guild, Mothers’ Union, and the Christian Men’s Fellowship (CMF), as well as a Thanksgiving service. A highlight of the event was the blessing of the marriage between Faith and Happiness Biebele, after which the couple was joyfully presented to the congregation as Mr. and Mrs. Happiness Biebele.
Worshippers from the parish and surrounding communities were urged to remain committed to righteousness and to place greater value on God’s approval above the opinions of men.
