Blessed Virgin Mary, who can worthily repay you with praise and thanks for having rescued a fallen world by your generous consent! Receive our gratitude, and by your prayers obtain the pardon of our sins. Take our prayers into the sanctuary of heaven and enable them to make our peace with God.

Holy Mary, help the miserable, strengthen the discouraged, comfort the sorrowful, pray for your people, plead for the clergy, intercede for all women consecrated to God. May all who venerate you feel now your help and protection. Be ready to help us when we pray, and bring back to us the answers to our prayers. Make it your continual concern to pray for the people of God, foryou were blessed by God and were made worthy to bear the Redeemer of the world, who lives and reigns forever. Amen.

Catholic Prayer of the Day 9 August 2022 || Gospel – Matthew 18:1-5, 10, 12-14

¹ At this time the disciples came to Jesus and said, ‘Who is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven?’

² So he called a little child to him whom he set among them.

³ Then he said, ‘In truth I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.

⁴ And so, the one who makes himself as little as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.

⁵ ‘Anyone who welcomes one little child like this in my name welcomes me.

¹⁰ ‘See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.

¹² ‘Tell me. Suppose a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays; will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go in search of the stray?

¹³ In truth I tell you, if he finds it, it gives him more joy than do the ninety-nine that did not stray at all.

¹⁴ Similarly, it is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.
