Desmond Elliot Kneels, Begs Gbajabiamila For Forgiveness Over APC Primary
By Dim Oba, LAGOS – Lagos State House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot, has knelt before President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, pleading for forgiveness following a bitter fallout over the APC primary election in Surulere Constituency I.
In a video circulating online, Elliot was seen kneeling before Gbajabiamila as he apologised and sought reconciliation with his former political ally.
“I’m sorry, I have no excuse,” the lawmaker said while pleading for forgiveness.
The development followed the APC primary in Surulere Constituency I, where Barakat Odunuga-Bakare reportedly defeated Elliot by a wide margin.
Odunuga-Bakare polled 11,385 votes against Elliot’s 270 votes to secure the party’s ticket.
Elliot had earlier challenged the conduct of the primary, alleging irregularities and claiming that some of his supporters were prevented from accessing the venue.
The disagreement reportedly deepened an existing political rift between Elliot and Gbajabiamila, who has played a major role in the political structure of Surulere.
Elliot had previously apologised to Gbajabiamila during a television appearance, describing him as his political mentor.
The latest gesture appears to signal another attempt by the lawmaker to mend fences with the APC leadership and restore his relationship with Gbajabiamila.
