Diri Marks 67th Birthday with Reflection, Prayer and Renewed Commitment to Bayelsa
By Ebis Freeman Yenagoa, — Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has marked his 67th birthday with a message of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to the development of the state.
In a statement released on Thursday, the governor described June 4 as a special and blessed day in his life, noting that he has always preferred to observe his birthdays privately rather than through elaborate celebrations.
According to Diri, long before assuming office as governor, he had maintained a tradition of marking his birthdays quietly, dedicating the occasion to personal reflection and communion with God through prayer.
“Today, 4th of June, remains a special day in my life, a blessed day of my birth. In line with my personal principles, I have never been known for a loud celebration and I do not encourage anyone to do otherwise on my behalf,” he stated.
The governor expressed appreciation to Bayelsans, friends, associates, and well-wishers for their goodwill messages and prayers. He, however, appealed to the public to join him in praying for sound health, wisdom, joy for his family, and continued peace and progress for Bayelsa State.
Diri reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering sustainable development and improving the welfare of the people under the Government of Assured Prosperity agenda.
He assured residents that his government remains focused on providing enduring projects and policies that will positively impact future generations.
“Let me assure our people that I remain committed to the service and progress of our dear State. Our Government of Assured Prosperity is bequeathing to our people enduring legacies that will stand the threshold of history,” the governor said.
The Bayelsa helmsman concluded his message by thanking the people for their support, prayers, and expressions of love as he celebrated another year of life and service.
