Ekerefe Hails Senator Dickson at 60, Describes Him as Pan-Ijaw Nationalist and Leader of Conviction
Former Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Mr. Ebilade Ekerefe, has congratulated former Governor of Bayelsa State and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, on the occasion of his 60th birthday, describing him as a Pan-Ijaw nationalist and a politician of rare conviction.
In a goodwill message made available to journalists, Ekerefe praised Senator Dickson—fondly referred to as “the Great-White-Shark”—as one of the greatest political leaders the Ijaw nation has produced, noting that his contributions to governance and development in Bayelsa State remain unmatched.
According to him, the former governor’s leadership during his tenure redefined the pathway for peace, progress, and sustainable development in the state, adding that the legacies of his administration would endure for generations.
Ekerefe particularly commended Senator Dickson’s courage and unwavering stance in defending the interests of the oppressed people of the Niger Delta region at the National Assembly.
“His fearless advocacy for justice and equity has earned him national recognition as a leader who is unapologetic in the fight for an egalitarian society,” he stated.
Reflecting on a personal note, Ekerefe acknowledged the profound impact Senator Dickson has had on his life, describing him as a mentor whose guidance, protection, and leadership philosophy reshaped his understanding of public service.
“As one of his mentees, I remain committed to preserving his legacies and upholding the principles that define his political leadership,” he said.
He prayed for divine guidance and continued strength for the senator as he marks the milestone age, expressing optimism that greater accomplishments lie ahead even in what he described as “a period of sober reflection.”
Ekerefe concluded by congratulating Senator Dickson once again, describing him as “the leader of all leaders” and wishing him many more years of impactful service to the Ijaw nation and Nigeria at large.
