ENWAF Visits Okaka Correctional Centre in Bayelsa State, Displays Compassion


Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation, ENWAF, a non-governmental organization pays a solidarity visit to the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Okaka Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to show their heart warm display of compassion to inmates.

Led by the Chief Executive Officer, Eunice Nnachi, the foundation embarked on a mission to provide much-needed support and comfort to the inmates housed within the correctional facility.

Upon their arrival, the ENWAF team was warmly greeted by the coordinator, Kukah of the correctional centre, who expressed deep gratitude for the foundation’s benevolent gesture.

Inside the correctional centre, conversations between the inmates and the ENWAF team brought stories of resilience, redemption, and longing for a second chance filled the air as the inmates shared their experiences, their hopes, and their aspirations, underscoring the profound impact that acts of compassion and solidarity can have on the human spirit.

Lady Nnachi reiterated the foundation’s commitment to advocating for the rights and dignity of all individuals, including those within the criminal justice system.

She emphasized the importance of extending compassion and support to those who are often marginalized and overlooked by society, reaffirming the foundation’s dedication to fostering positive change and social justice.

The coordinator of the correctional centre expressed profound gratitude to the ENWAF team for their generosity and kindness, acknowledging the significant impact their visit had on the morale and well-being of the inmates.

He emphasized the importance of community support in fostering rehabilitation and reintegration, highlighting the transformative power of compassion in the journey towards redemption.

However, he called for support from the government, organizations and individuals to assist the inmates through the provision of food, toiletries, blankets, mosquito nets and other household essential items inorder to bring a sense of relief and reassurance to the inmates, reminding them that they were not forgotten despite the circumstances they faced.

The Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation continues to be a beacon of light and hope for marginalized communities, embodying the values of compassion, justice, and empowerment in its unwavering pursuit of social change.
