Fubara to Swear In Five Commissioners After Assembly Clearance
Governor Siminalayi Fubara will on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, swear in five commissioners-designate who were screened and confirmed by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Port Harcourt at 1:00 p.m.
Those confirmed by the Assembly are Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
In an official announcement issued by the Office of the Rivers State Government, the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo S. A. Wokoma, directed the commissioners-designate to arrive at the venue with one guest each and be seated by 12:30 p.m. to ensure a smooth and timely ceremony.
The development follows the screening exercise conducted by the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday, March 9, during which nine commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Fubara were reviewed.
After deliberations, the Assembly confirmed five nominees while rejecting four others over concerns raised during the screening process.
The incoming commissioners are expected to become members of the State Executive Council and contribute to the administration’s governance agenda as the government moves to fully reconstitute its cabinet following the earlier dissolution of the previous State Executive Council.
Political observers say the swearing-in represents a significant step in strengthening the executive arm of government and advancing development initiatives across Rivers State.
