Get Online Version to Reach Wider Audience, University Don Tells Journalists

Professor Barclays Ayakoroma, deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, Bayelsa State, has urged journalists and media organizations to ensure that their news and information have online version in order to reach a wider audience.

Professor Ayakoroma stated this during the luncheon and awards ceremony organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ as part of activities to mark the 2023 Press Week.

While delivering a lecture on the theme” Expanding Media Knowledge for a better information management in the Niger Delta region”, he emphasized the need for journalists to be knowledgeable in gathering and putting out information as the public depends on their information to guide their actions.

He pointed out that journalists should live up to expectation particularly in the reportage of the forth coming elections in the state.

Also speaking, Royal Father of the day, HRM King Dumaro Charles-Owaba , Obenobhan 3 of Ogbia kingdom encouraged journalists to work in line with the ethics of the profession and reveal the ills in leadership for the interest of the people.

On his part, Chairman of the occasion, Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia commended the NUJ for their positive contribution to the development of the society while pledging to give support to the union in its activities.

Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Bayelsa State, Comrade Samuel Numonengi in his welcome address noted that this year’s Press Week is an opportunity for journalists in the state to come together, share ideas, unwind and learn from others.

Comrade Numonengi expressed appreciation to all journalists and invited guests who attended the occasion.

The high point of the event was the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities who have done well in their fields and contributed to the growth of the society.
