TODAY’S TOPIC: QUIT TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT

Today’s Scripture: Joshua 24:12–13, NIV

“I sent the hornet ahead of you, which drove them out before you–also the two Amorite kings. You did not do it with your own sword and bow. So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build.”

The Israelites were up against several nations that were much bigger, stronger, and trained for war. They didn’t stand a chance on their own. So did God send in an army of angels to get rid of these powerful armies? No, He sent hornets ahead of the Israelites so they didn’t even have to fight. When you don’t see how your situation can work out, don’t worry. God has plenty of hornets. He has ways you’ve never thought of. Quit trying to figure it out and trust Him. He’s in control of your life. He knows how to get you to where you’re supposed to be.

God is going ahead of you. Quit worrying, quit losing sleep. Put down your sword and shield. He’s going to give you land that you didn’t work for. You’re not going to have to struggle, manipulate people, or try to force it to happen. He’s going to drive out the inhabitants that are on your land.

Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You that before I even call, You answer me; before I even pray, You already have the answer lined up. Thank You that You go before me and work in ways that I can’t even imagine. I believe I will come into my land of unprecedented favor. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

About Joel Osteen

Raised in Houston, Texas, with a loving family of seven and world-renowned parents in full-time ministry, Joel Osteen never imagined that he would follow so closely in his father’s footsteps. As a young man, his training and interests were behind the scenes in television production, though he was close to his father in ministry.

His father always encouraged him to preach, but Joel would politely decline time and time again until one day in October 1999 when his father was admitted to the hospital with kidney complications. Joel finally agreed to preach the next Sunday, and his father passed the following week. Joel’s first sermon was the last his father ever heard. Joel and his wife, Victoria, were suddenly thrust into full-time leadership of Lakewood Church.
