Media Stakeholders Urged to Use Media Platforms To Disseminate Information on Nutrition Programs


Media stakeholders in Bayelsa State have been urged to continue to use their various media platforms to disseminate information on nutrition in order to foster healthy behaviors and address challenges on nutrition programs.

Director of Planning in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Solomon Agraka stated this during a one day State level meeting with media partners held in Yenagoa the state capital.

Mr Agraka noted that the media plays a vital role in shaping public awareness and advocacy hence, they should create impactful campaigns and programs that would influence societal attitudes towards nutrition.

Also speaking, State Nutrition Officer, Mr Ebi Wilson appealed to the media stakeholders to improve on their reportage through collaborative strategies that would enhance the state’s food and nutrition initiatives.

On her part, Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, Lady Judith Young who gave a report on the progress made in achieving nutritional goals through public enlightenment noted that the media partners have made extensive efforts to spread the right information to the people both in the urban and rural areas of the state.

She identified issues such as language barriers, resource limitations, logistical challenges and poor road network as some of the challenges and constraints in spreading accurate information to empower communities and promote nutritional well being.

However, she emphasized that all media organizations in the state would work together to enhance public understanding of nutrition and promote nutritional education.
