Mercy Johnson: Background, Journey in Acting and Her Family

Mercy Johnson is one of the female Nigerian actress that has become famous for her comedy roles in film.

The dark-curvy screen diva was born on 28 August, 1984 in Lagos, Nigeria from Okene in Kogi State.

Mercy Johnson is the fourth child in a family of seven starting her primary education in Cross River State and secondary education in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Nigerian actress, film director and producer is a daughter of a naval officer.

Her journey into the movie industry started in 2004 when she played the lead role in the film ‘The Maid’. After that role, she had starred in several movies from Hustlers, Baby Oku in America, to War in the Palace.

Mercy Johnson’s role in the comedy movie, ‘Dumebi, the Dirty Girl’ launched her into the industry big time. With the movie she won the Best Actress Award at 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, AMVCA.

Mercy Johnson is married to Prince Okojie, a Benin-based business man in August 2011. She blessed with four beautiful children.
