NAPTIP Bayelsa Command Inaugurates Anti-Human Trafficking Club at GSS Amassoma
The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has expanded its awareness campaign with the inauguration of an Anti-Human Trafficking Club at Government Secondary School (GSS) Amassoma.
The sensitization team, led by Mr. Sambo Wariebi, Head of the Public Enlightenment Unit, represented the Acting State Commander, Mr. Fadeware Timibiowei. He explained that the visit was aimed at educating students and teachers on the dangers of human trafficking, child abuse, and gender-based violence.
Mr. Wariebi enlightened the students on the various types and forms of human trafficking and urged them to report any suspicious activities to NAPTIP. He further encouraged them to make use of the agency’s reporting channels or visit the state command whenever necessary.
Responding, the school principal, Mr. Francis Leileituagha, expressed appreciation to NAPTIP for choosing the school as part of its sensitization efforts. He thanked the agency for enlightening the students and pledged full support for the newly established Anti-Human Trafficking Vanguard in the school.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Anti-Human Trafficking Vanguard Club, distribution of NAPTIP’s Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, and a group photograph to commemorate the campaign.
