NAPTIP, Police Strengthen Alliance to Combat Human Trafficking in Bayelsa
The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has intensified efforts to curb human trafficking by seeking stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Police.
During a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police on March 26, 2026, the State Commander of NAPTIP, Mrs. Ngozi Opara, led her team in reaffirming the agency’s commitment to building a more effective partnership with the police command. She emphasized that enhanced cooperation remains critical in tackling the growing menace of human trafficking across the state.
Opara highlighted key areas of collaboration to include joint operations, intelligence sharing, and coordinated enforcement strategies aimed at dismantling trafficking networks. She noted that sustained synergy between both agencies would significantly improve response efforts and ensure better protection for vulnerable persons.
In his response, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel, commended NAPTIP for the initiative and assured the command’s full support. He pledged that under his leadership, the Nigeria Police in Bayelsa State would continue to work closely with the agency to combat human trafficking and related crimes.
A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of the agency’s Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to the Commissioner. The event also featured the symbolic issuance of red cards to human traffickers, reinforcing a zero-tolerance stance against the crime in the state.
