NCDMB Strengthens Local Capacity at NLNG Vendors Training in Port Harcourt
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is participating in a two-day NLNG Community Vendors Training Programme aimed at boosting the capacity of local businesses and enhancing their participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The training, which commenced on March 23, 2026, in Port Harcourt, is part of ongoing efforts to empower community vendors with the knowledge and tools required to operate competitively within the industry.
Day one of the programme featured an extensive overview of the Community Development initiative, with opening remarks underscoring the need for strict compliance with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act. Stakeholders emphasized the promotion of Nigerian content and the importance of sustainable community engagement in oil-producing regions.
Technical sessions at the training covered critical areas such as Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Ethics and Compliance, as well as key provisions of the NOGICD Act. Participants were also introduced to essential requirements including the Nigerian Content Equipment Certificate (NCEC), registration on the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Joint Qualification System (NOGIC JQS), and procedures for accessing the Nigerian Content Fund (NCF).
In addition, the programme provided targeted training on financial management tailored for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Experts delivered insights on financial planning, while also highlighting funding opportunities through banking institutions and the NLNG Cooperative Fund Microfinance Scheme.
The sessions further addressed tax compliance obligations under the newly introduced Tax Reform Act, equipping participants with up-to-date knowledge on regulatory expectations.
Participants at the training expressed optimism that the knowledge gained would enhance their operational standards, improve compliance, and position them to take advantage of emerging opportunities in Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment by NCDMB and its partners to deepen local content development and ensure that host communities play a more active and beneficial role in the nation’s energy sector.
