The Board made the call at the 2026 Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit, held from Tuesday, September 15, to Thursday, September 17, at the Obi Wali Cultural Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The summit, themed “Unlocking the Niger Delta’s Economic Potential for Sustainable Investment,” focused on strategies for accelerating investment and promoting sustainable economic growth in the region.
Representing the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Director of Legal Services, Mr. Naboth Onyesoh, delivered a goodwill message in which he underscored the importance of strategic partnerships, regional integration and coordinated investments in driving economic development.
Drawing on the Board’s 16 years of experience in implementing the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, Onyesoh highlighted the role of local content in strengthening indigenous businesses, promoting industrialisation, developing skills and technology, creating employment opportunities and expanding value creation within the Nigerian economy.
The Board also advocated the development of shared infrastructure and the promotion of regional commerce as part of efforts to create an enabling investment environment across the Niger Delta.
According to the NCDMB, coordinated efforts among stakeholders would help position the region as a competitive economic growth corridor capable of attracting sustainable investments.
