
NCDMB Trains Media Professionals to Drive Growth in Nigerian Content Development
Abuja — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) convened media professionals in Abuja for a one-day capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening the media’s role in advancing Nigerian Content development across the oil and gas sector.
Declaring the workshop open, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, General Manager of Corporate Communications at NCDMB, emphasized the strategic importance of journalists in documenting the Board’s achievements and supporting the sustained growth of local content in Nigeria’s energy industry.
A standout session of the event was facilitated by Azu Ishiekwene, Group Managing Director of Leadership Newspaper. His presentation, titled “From Pen to Profit,” explored practical strategies for journalists to build sustainable income streams in the digital era, sparking discussions on creativity, monetization, and impactful storytelling.
Further shedding light on the Board’s progress, Dr. Abdulmalik Halilu, Director of Corporate Services, revealed that Nigerian Content participation in the oil and gas sector has risen from 42 per cent to 61 per cent, with a target of 70 per cent by 2027. He highlighted key areas such as industrialization, job creation, and enforcement of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act.
The workshop also featured interactive question-and-answer sessions, allowing journalists to exchange ideas on accountability, professional development, and their pivotal role in sustaining Nigerian Content growth.
The event underscored the growing collaboration between the media and industry stakeholders in shaping a robust local content ecosystem.
