NDDC Suffering From Funding Deficit Since Inception, Says Akwa

The Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC said the commission is suffering from funding deficit.

The commission has never received full budgeting allocation since its inception.

Interim Administrator, Mr Effiong Akwa came out with this while delivering a lecture on ” The Role of NDDC in National Development” at the University of Abuja.

Mr Aqua explained that NDDC has suffered funding deficit which is a major challenge as the agency is being owed by some fund providers.

However, he noted that efforts are being made to address the issues of funding in the agency.

The Interim Administrator noted that about 70% of people in the Niger Delta region are living in abject poverty despite the fact that the region contributes 90% to Nigeria’s earnings.

He said there is a need to maintain peace in the region inorder to achieve a robust economy in the country.
