
New Registrar Resumes Duty at University of Africa, Toru-Orua
Yenagoa – The management of University of Africa, Toru-Orua has officially welcomed Mrs. Tare-ela Darlington Abite as the institution’s third substantive Registrar following the confirmation of her appointment by the university’s First Governing Council.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, management, staff and students of the institution, the university announced that Mrs. Abite officially resumed office on Monday, May 18, 2026, for a single tenure of five years.
Her appointment was confirmed during the 17th statutory meeting of the Governing Council, marking another milestone in the growth and development of the institution.
Mrs. Abite brings over 25 years of administrative experience in the university system, most of which were acquired at Niger Delta University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management, as well as a Master of Science degree in Management.
Before her elevation to the office of Registrar, she served as Establishments Officer at Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island. She also previously held office as Chairman of the ANUPA chapter of the institution.
The appointment equally marks a historic moment for the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, as Mrs. Abite becomes the first female Registrar of the university.
Speaking on her assumption of office, the new Registrar expressed readiness to deploy her wealth of experience and administrative expertise towards advancing the institution to greater heights.
Mrs. Abite, who hails from Sagbama Local Government Area, is married and blessed with children.
