Obi Challenges Competent Nigerians to Join 2027 Presidential Race
By Tams Jonah, ABUJA ‘- Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged Nigerians with the competence and energy to serve the country to join the political process and campaign for leadership positions.
Obi said Nigeria needed leaders who would be accessible, available and committed to addressing the needs of citizens, stressing that the president must remain actively engaged with people across the country.
“If you have competence and energy to serve, come and campaign,” Obi said.
He argued that Nigerians could no longer afford to elect leaders who were unavailable to the people after assuming office.
“We can no longer accept people who are elected and not available. The president of Nigeria must be available at all times and must tour all over Nigeria,” he said.
The former Anambra State governor’s remarks highlight the importance of accessibility, leadership commitment and direct engagement with citizens as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His comments also underscore the need for public officeholders to maintain regular contact with Nigerians across different regions and respond to their concerns.
