ORCHESTRATED CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY AND BLACKMAIL AGAINST CHIEF (DR) SAMUEL OGBUKU AND NDDC

By Chief Jones Abiri – It is most likely that mudslinging will remain a political tool to discredit and get back at opponents. The tendency is that when certain political calculations do not seem to be going the same may want it, they now resort to unconventional means to convince or confuse people to agree with their cause. It is the plan of some political opponents and their cohort to diminish the laudable achievement of Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC.

The circumstances that brought the Managing Director to office are all too well known and are a landmark in the political history of the Niger Delta region. Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku seems to have succeeded in proving his critics wrong in his approach to all inclusive governance.
Those who gave him little chance of doing much let alone succeed are now chewing their words. But like the dictum goes that no man can satisfy everyone, strong but unfounded criticism still trail the administration of Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku in the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC of particular note is the unbridled criticism coming from various faceless organization within and outside the region to cause disaffection in the commission. The perceptive taken was quick, narrow and faulty. It is obvious that the inscription on banners with cardboard papers that midwives several online publications only looked at the issues from a myopic and probably jaundice point of view out of mischief. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC has proven to be a success story, even though skeptics gave him no chance at all. The young Managing Director is leaving a new legacy in the Niger Delta region that will set the pace for those that will come after him. Let everyone encourage him to do better rather than casting aspersions and castigate him for the sake of political expedience.

But the truth must be told that underground civil servant politicians and self-aclaimed politicians are best advise to refrain from mudslinging and cheap blackmail to achieve political end but that on the long run is not self-serving but will definitely stunt the growth of real democracy in the region. It is such political tendency that scares competent people from the political terrain from doing what is good for the people. The various baseless online publications that tries to dent the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC and his formidable team is deliberate and calculated attempt to distort the records and cause confusion in the region. Their comment and utterances are that of a drowning politician. They should be aware that the people are watching and waiting to prove to those trying to toy with the future that real and true power belongs to them and not the small clique of individuals who are ever engaged in plotting the demise of all others for their selfish interests.

Whatever that happens to the Managing Director, Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku in office will be used to evaluate how people of Niger Delta region managed or squandered an opportunity to show the quality of their civilization. It can hardly be put better that posterity in waiting to judge the region, it’s leaders and those deployed to be willing tools in every season as enemies to undermine the region. Niger Delta region is tired of oppositions without much to achieve from their records. It is difficult to know where all these are coming from and where they are headed. What is the exact problem with Niger Deltans that will not allow a sitting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC to have focus on development of the region? It is a classical antic of character that are battling to stand truth on its head in a rabid did to escape the snare of justice, after shamelessly desecrating decency and the law. To try to give impetus to the insinuation that the Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku refusal in paying contractors, no budgetary approval that the president should save the situation and calling for a protest in Abuja 🇳🇬 by next week has constituted themselves as public nuisances by their pay masters. It is wrong for the commission to join issues with these barefooted confusionists, who play politics with everything in the region including people image and integrity. It could be tolerable, but when supposed people abandon the ethics of their calling and decend into orchestrated campaign of calcumny on the good image of Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku, it becomes a matter for great concern. At no time where the Managing Director turned down genuine contracts payment in the commission when every necessary documents are put in place for contractors to receive such funds from the agency.

This unbecoming campaign of calcumny and blackmail have been on from the operators of the machinery of the region politicians since Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku emerged as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NDDC. Instead of rallying round him to achieve his much desired position in the region, why decided to embark on mindless propaganda built on malicious falsehood and condense so low in the hands of oppositions?

These political detractors have been advised to stop chasing irrelevance, when every patriotic Niger Deltans should be addressing the seemingly more pressing region and national issues of security challenge, grassroots empowerment and political rascality. Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku who is a levelheaded politician in the region that can’t be rubbish before the political class. A stitch in time, they say save nine.
