Our Bible Verse for Today – Daniel 1:8
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Prior to COVID in 2020, most content creators did not know how lucrative the digital space was. Pre-COVID content creators created content for fun and to exhibit their skills earning from personal paid adverts. They earned little from the social media platforms like Youtube, Facebook and others.
A young aspiring filmmaker left Asaba after several years of unsuccessful struggles to hit a deal. He returns to his university community with his laptop, a Cannon digital camera and maybe a techno phone to produce skits on Facebook. Due to the uniqueness of his content, he became popular within six months getting endorsements and making adverts for brands. The business of skit making and getting results did not come cheap. At a point, all his Facebook pages were not earning but he purposed to continue in it. Fast forward to 2024, this young man had built a film village for himself with proceeds from Youtube and Facebook earnings in that community.
In our bible verse for today, Daniel is one of the biblical characters with proves. His walk with God is characterised with several incredible testimonies in bible history. However, this did not happen without laying a proper foundation. The foundation for everything starts with a deep understanding of purpose and functioning in it without distractions.
Proverbs 23:7a reads ‘For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…’, like Daniel purposed in his heart that he will not eat the King’s food because it will defile him. While the young filmmaker in our opening story resolved to build his career in a tiny community. The actions for these two had consequences but prevailed with a purposeful drive.
The word purpose, simply tells you the need to be intentional, determined, goal-oriented, and resolute. Purpose is the driving force of life. A force that compels you to focus on what should be done to reach a desired destination. A purpose driven life comes with excellence and distinction just like Daniel in Babylon.
Today’s bible verse, we are encouraged to walk with purpose as a daily lifestyle. When you define your actions, you determine your results.
