The sleepy community of Oyobu was agog with jubilation on Saturday as HRH King Alphaeus Temeketin was crowned and coronated as the new paramount ruler of the community after what seemed a protracted battle as regards the contest for the stool of the paramount ruler of the community, admist pomp and pageantry.
In his remarks at the coronation ceremony in the community, the head of all the paramount rulers of the the entire Oyobu clan, HRH Collins Aranka urged Oyobu people both at home and in diaspora across all the communities that make the clan to give the new king all the needed support to enable him succeed, noting that that is the surest way to attract peace and blessings to the community.
King Collins Aranka further opined that the stool for the paramount ruler of the community was keenly contested, stressing that the new occupant of the throne eventually emerged the chosen one basically because of his track record of honest and integrity which endeared him to the heart of his people.
The revered monarch also pointed out that the new king of the community has a robust pedigree while in public service, adding that he equally possesses good leadership qualities that he would bring to bear as he presides over the customary and traditional affairs of the community.
While speaking to newsmen shortly after the coronation ceremony ,the new paramount ruler, King Alphaeus Temeketin said the ceremony was a wonderful display of the unity and love among the people of Oyobu community, urging them to work hard in order to achieve greatness in their chosen endeavors.
He also appealed to the neighbouring commuties who are yet to get thier new kings to be patient, embrace peace and be united as one big family, adding that that is the only panecea that can culminate into the much needed traditional leader they have been yearning for.
He pledged to give his best for the overall benefits of the people of the community, urging them to rally him in the task of uniting and advancing the growth of the community.
In his goodwill message, the member representing Kolokuma/ Opokuma in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly which covers Oyobu community, Hon Wisdom Fafi expressed confidence in the ability of the new paramount to take the traditions, customs and culture to greater heights based primarily on his track record of proven integrity over the years, noting that King Alphaeus Temeketin’s father was also a former paramount ruler of the community who demonstrated good leadership qualities while on the throne.
He enjoined the new paramount ruler to have the fear of God and respect for the elders of the community as he presides over the affairs of the culture and traditions of his people.
