By Joyce Sunny, FOREIGN DESK – Pope Leo XIV has been discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital and returned to the papal apartments in Vatican City State on Saturday afternoon.
The announcement of the Pope’s expected discharge was made on Saturday morning, paving the way for his return to the Vatican.
In a separate statement, the Holy See Press Office announced that Pope Leo XIV would lead the traditional noonday Angelus prayer on Sunday from the window of the Apostolic Palace.
The planned appearance will allow the pontiff to resume a public engagement following his hospital stay.
The Angelus is a traditional Catholic prayer recited at midday, during which the Pope often addresses worshippers, offers reflections on current issues and extends greetings to the faithful around the world.
Further details about the circumstances surrounding the Pope’s hospitalisation and his recovery were not provided in the information released.
