[dropcap]R[/dropcap]esidents of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital have cried out over the continuous increase in prices of transportation fare.
Some residents say during the flood, there was scarcity of petroleum products hence the increase however they are expecting that transportation fare would have gone back to the normal prices.
Mr Ebiundu Daniel appealed to the state government address the black marketers of petroleum products to desist from selling at exorbitant prices which is the major cause of high transport fares.
“These Keke people cannot stand on the queue for a long time, so they prefer to buy fuel in the black market so they would charge us so much to recover their monies spent”
Another resident, Mrs Ebika Solomon who is a trader appealed to the state government to come to their aid as they no longer make profit on sales after buying their goods, tricycle riders charge them so much.
They called on the state government to take proactive steps to ensure that tricycle riders revert to the normal prices in the state capital.
However, a tricycle rider noted that one of the reasons for high transport fare can be linked to the high cost of buying tricycle parts and increase in petroleum products.
He urged the federal and state government to look into the issue as their businesses have also being affected.
