Stronger Together: NAPTIP Bayelsa Commander Calls for United Front Against Human Trafficking
The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative action in the fight against human trafficking, as the State Commander, Ngozi Opara, emphasized the need for collective societal involvement to curb the menace.
This position was made known when the agency played host to officials from the Bayelsa State Ministry of Women Affairs, particularly the Department of Human Trafficking, at the NAPTIP State Command.
Leading the delegation, the Head of Department, Kuro-ebiowe Eniasiba, stated that the visit was aimed at formally welcoming the new State Commander to Bayelsa and strengthening the existing partnership between the ministry and the agency. She assured that the department remains fully committed to supporting NAPTIP’s operations in tackling human trafficking across the state.
In her response, Mrs. Opara expressed appreciation for the visit and reiterated her readiness to work with credible institutions, civil society groups, and relevant stakeholders. She stressed that the agency’s success depends largely on synergy, noting that “when all segments of society unite with a common purpose, the fight against human trafficking can be decisively won.”
The visit also featured the symbolic issuance of Red Cards to human traffickers—a signature advocacy initiative of NAPTIP—alongside the distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials aimed at raising public awareness on the dangers and consequences of human trafficking.
The engagement further underscores the growing momentum for inter-agency collaboration in Bayelsa State, as stakeholders intensify efforts to dismantle trafficking networks and protect vulnerable populations.
