Lagos – Nollywood actor Uzo Arukwe has penned an emotional tribute following his victory at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), describing his Best Lead Actor win as a dream still unfolding.
In a heartfelt message shared two weeks after clinching the prestigious #AMVCA12 award, the celebrated actor opened up about his journey through rejection, uncertainty and perseverance before finally standing on one of African cinema’s biggest stages.
“It’s been two weeks since I won the #AMVCA12 Best Lead Actor 2026 award, and honestly, e still dey feel like dream,” Arukwe wrote, reflecting on the emotional weight of the recognition.
The actor revealed that returning to work immediately after the awards ceremony delayed his public appreciation message, stressing that gratitude remains deeply important to him because “nobody truly wins alone in this industry.”
Arukwe used the moment to honour a long list of filmmakers, producers and directors who contributed to his rise in Nollywood. Among those he acknowledged were Funke Akindele, Ruth Kadiri, Jade Osiberu, Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Bimbo Ademoye, Mary Lazarus and Kayode Kasum, among many others.

“Every role, every opportunity prepared me for this moment,” he stated.
