Abducted INEC Officer Released in Yenagoa

The abducted Supervisory Presiding Officer, SPO of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Bayelsa State office has been released in Yenagoa.

This is contained in a statement signed by Wilfred Ifogah, Head of Department, Voters Education and Publicity on behalf of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC INEC Bayelsa State office.

According to the statement, the released INEC officer is doing fine and thanked all those who showed concern in ensuring the safe release of the officer.

The statement reads, ‘The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Bayelsa State office is pleased to inform stakeholders and concerned citizens of Nigeria that the INEC Supervisory Presiding Officer (SPO) earlier abducted on the eve of election has been freed and the officer is doing fine.

‘The Commission wish to thank all those who acted and showed concern in ensuring the safe release and return of the officer’, the statement concluded.

Abducted INEC Officer Released in Yenagoa

It would be recalled that the SPO was abducted on the eve of the election while waiting to board a boat at Amassoma Jetty to Registration Area-06 (Ossioma) in Sagbama LGA of the state.
