Emergency Rule: Tinubu Meets Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas, in Abuja
President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria held a closed-door meeting with Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting, which lasted over two hours, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 took place just before the September 18 expiration of the six-month state of emergency declared on March 18, 2025, due to a political crisis in Rivers State.
While details of the discussion were not disclosed, sources suggest it focused on transition arrangements, security updates, and preparations for a possible handover as the emergency rule nears its end.
