HIV/AIDS: BYSACA Receives New Implementing partners, Dr Azebi Expresses Confidence

The Bayelsa State Agency for the Control of AIDS, BYSACA receives two new implementing partners into the state as part of its efforts in providing HIV/AIDS services.

The Centre for Clinical Care and Clinical Research, CCCRN which is expected to begin its work in the state is aimed at providing HIV services with special focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children, OVC in various households.

Heartland Alliance, another implementing partner is in Bayelsa state to give services for Key population which are persons more at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS inorder to achieve epidemic control.

Permanent Secretary, BYSACA, Dr Oluwatoyin Azebi who welcomed both partners into the state expressed optimism that their work would be beneficial to the state in the fight against the reduction of new infections.

Dr Azebi urged them not to be discouraged by the difficult terrain of the communities in the discharge of their duties.

Chief of Party, CCCRN, Mr Peter Adekoya explained that their service package includes providing health, social and educational needs for children living with HIV inorder to get them linked to health facilities for treatment.

Mr Adekoya adds that they would work with critical stakeholders to collate and validate data for children and adolescents at risk of HIV infection.

Key Population Adviser for Heartland Alliance, Mr Michael Akanji noted that they would work with the Bayelsa State structure to provide capacity building for sustainable development of the project.

State Coordinator, Network of Persons living with HIV, NEPHWAN, Mrs Rose Nwokezie who expressed appreciation to the new implementing partners said their project would directly have a positive impact in the lives of many households of PLHIV.

The implementing partners are calling on the support of the Bayelsa state government, Ministry of Health and all other relevant stakeholders to provide an enabling environment for them to carry out their project effectively.
