India’s Rohan Bopanna Oldest Male Player to Win Grand Slam at 43

Rohan Bopanna becomes the oldest male player to win a Grand Slam tennis title at the age of 43.  He is an Indian who turned a professional player more than two decades ago.

Aged 43, India’s Rohan Bopanna is the oldest male player to win a tennis title.

It took 61 attempts, with 19 different partners, but he finally won his first men’s doubles Grand Slam title in January at the Australian Open with partner Matthew Ebden.

He turned professional more than two decades ago, but he says that he sees his experience as a bonus.

“I’m going to start telling myself I’m at level 43, not age 43.”

Bopanna credits his physiotherapist and yoga with helping his longevity. He also told us a “nice afternoon nap” ahead of the game helped to calm his nerves.
