Maciver Rallies PDP Ahead of Bayelsa Polls, Vows Electoral Victory in Elebele
By Jonah Fubara, YENAGOA — A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, Joshua Maciver, has declared that the party possesses the political strength and capacity to retain its dominance in the state, urging members to remain united and fully prepared ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Maciver made the declaration while addressing party faithful during the reception of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP in Elebele Community, Ogbia Local Government Area.
Speaking before a large gathering of supporters, the PDP leader warned that politicians who had abandoned the party would face what he described as a “political tsunami,” insisting that the PDP remained the most formidable political force in Bayelsa State.
He explained that his presence at the event was to demonstrate solidarity with the Bayelsa State PDP Chairman, noting that Elebele is the chairman’s state constituency and therefore occupies a strategic place within the party’s political structure.
According to Maciver, the calibre of leaders within the PDP at both the state and national levels gives members confidence and assurance of victory in future elections.
Turning his attention to the party’s House of Assembly candidate for Ogbia Constituency III, Maciver commended her enthusiasm and confidence, saying her passion had convinced him that she was prepared for the electoral contest.
“I wanted to ask if she was ready for the election, but after listening to her goodwill message and seeing the fire in her, I became convinced that she is ready,” he said.
Maciver also sent a political message to the incumbent lawmaker representing Ogbia Constituency III, stating that the PDP leadership had arrived in Elebele to receive prominent political figures joining the party and was determined to reclaim the constituency.
He expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious in the constituency irrespective of political opposition.
Addressing the party’s candidate directly, Maciver urged her not to be intimidated but to intensify preparations for the campaign, assuring her of the full backing of the party leadership.
He stressed that the PDP could not afford to allow the APC secure more seats in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, describing such an outcome as unacceptable to the party’s leadership.
Maciver further maintained that electoral victory would depend on adequate preparation by candidates, assuring party supporters that the PDP had both the experience and political machinery required to win elections across the state.
He concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to mobilising all necessary support to ensure victory for its candidates in the forthcoming polls, urging members to remain focused and united behind the PDP.
