Mr Macaroni Funny is Not Funny, Says Kiekie
By Dim Oba – Popular Nigerian media personality and skit maker, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, widely known as Kiekie, has said she does not find her colleague and friend, Mr Macaroni, funny, despite his status as one of the biggest skit makers in Nigeria.
Kiekie made the statement while responding to a question during a podcast interview on YouTube with Nigerian food blogger, Ify. The discussion centred on comedy, content creation, and individual preferences within the entertainment industry.
Speaking during the interview, Kiekie stated plainly that Mr Macaroni’s style of comedy does not appeal to her, noting that she has never laughed at his skits.
“I don’t find Mr Macaroni funny. He is not funny to me. I have never laughed at his skits,” she said.
When asked to explain her position, Kiekie stressed that humour is subjective and largely based on personal perception. According to her, not everyone is expected to share the same sense of humour.
“Life is very subjective and all about perception as well. Some people don’t find me funny and I don’t find everybody funny, obviously. And everybody doesn’t find me funny,” she explained.
She further acknowledged Mr Macaroni’s success in the industry, stating that her opinion does not diminish his achievements or popularity.
“Mr Macaroni might be one of the biggest skit makers we have in Nigeria, but I don’t find him funny,” she added.
Mr Macaroni, whose real name is Debo Adedayo, is widely known for his satirical skits and social commentary, which have earned him a massive following across social media platforms. Kiekie, on her part, is also a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment space, known for her energetic skits, television hosting, and fashion content.
The remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with social media users expressing differing views, many agreeing that comedy remains a matter of personal taste.
